Island time, after dark

When the sun slips into the Gulf and the sand starts giving back the day’s heat, Samui changes key. Sizzle Soul is where it goes: a small, warm room with a big sound, open to the evening air, the stage a few barefoot steps from the bar.

Six nights a week the house band plays two sets: standards and bossa while the sky is still pink, soul and the blues once it’s late enough. On Thursdays, players passing through the island sit in. Behind the bar we shake Thai gardens into glasses: lemongrass, pandan, makrut lime, a little bird’s-eye chili, and coconut, because this is coconut island after all.

No dress code, no rush. Come for the sunset, stay for the second set.
